Four forks of the citizen-first revision: v0.2 speaks to citizens first and lets the
agencies overhear. Each fork below is one open question, sketched as two or three small playable
alternatives at deliberately low fidelity. Play them, then cast one ballot at the bottom
(qid site-v2); recombinations are legal answers.
V1 · audience entry · how does a visitor find their chair?
The revision adds a third audience and gives citizens the first chair. Three ways in:
self-select tabs, one story that reveals the professionals, or a question at the door.
1A three tabs
Citizens & communities
You are the first to see it.
Your eyes on the shared map. The shared map in your hand.
the v0.1 toggle grown to three. self-select is honest; does the third pill crowd
a phone, and does anyone read tab two?
1B progressive reveal
Citizens & communities
You are the first to see it.
Every fire is watched within minutes. By a hiker, a driver, a neighbor on a porch.
What is missing is the loop that turns all that seeing into a live picture anyone can act on.
Incident management
The eyes existed. The link didn't.
Emergency management & PIO
All eyes on the risk.

one story, no fork. the citizen never sees a menu; the pro reader must scroll to

1C role question upfront
Which chair is yours today?

the hero waits behind your answer ↑
the gate asks before it gives. cleanest routing, and a door in front of the door;
a bounce risk the other two never take.
V2 · citizen CTA depth · what is the honest next step?
The note bans app-download claims until a citizen product exists (§5 firewall).
So what does the green button actually do: let you look, sign you up, or swear you in?
2A observe now · a web action

watching is the on-ramp: no signup, the picture itself
recruits you. rung one of the ladder, live on the web.
zero friction, zero relationship: nobody to reach when the night comes. and it
needs a real public view to exist on day one.
2B SMS / alert signup
the alert is the product's first breath:
a text with a map link centered on you.
a relationship and a reach channel; it is the product's own first move. but it
asks for trust before it has shown value.
2C join the pilot neighborhood
Arroyo Seco pilot
38 neighbors are in
pilots start where neighbors already are; the flock
frame made literal.
the note's honest door (§5): no capability claim, real commitment. asks the most,
and only works where a pilot actually exists.
V3 · incident-tab witness intensity · how much weight can the page carry?
The incident tab opens on witness. Three intensities of the same testimony:
the full narrative, one restrained paragraph, or the argument with no words at all.
House rules hold in every alternative: witness, never spectacle; every clause fact-gated.
3A full Granite Mountain narrative
On June 30, 2013, nineteen members of the Granite Mountain Hotshots died at Yarnell Hill
F1. Aircraft were overhead. Bravo 33 was overhead F2.
Collectively, there were eyes on that fire: citizens, other crews, other aircraft
F2. Operations did not know where the crew was F2.
And the crew did not have eyes on the fire.
What the crew needed fit in one radio message: your time buffer to the safety zone just went
from the lunchtime wind forecast, to observed fire behavior, to five minutes, to negative
F3. Stay in the black.
maximum standing, maximum risk: one detail wrong burns it all. ships only after
the forage verifies every yellow flag, and a wildland reader signs off.
3B restrained one-paragraph ethos
On the worst days, someone could see the fire turn. Citizens saw it. Other aircraft saw it.
The crew in front of it could not. alert.live is the link: every eye on scene, one
georeferenced picture, live to the people whose lives depend on it.
no names, no dates, no toll; the subhead already
written in the note carries the whole witness.
witness without the numbers. readers who carry Yarnell will hear it anyway;
readers who don't are not made to. is restraint respect, or evasion?
3C the draining time-buffer, alone
time buffer to the safety zone

Stay in the black.
the argument with no words: forecast, observed, five minutes, negative. every
moving pixel is the driven quantity. does it carry without the testimony?
V4 · severity-ladder interaction · one person, one worsening day
The citizen tab's signature object: four rungs, the same app from curiosity to
survival. Static and legible, scrubbed like the site's timeline, or entered at your own moment?

notes carry the vectors.
